Asian Powerhouses share the titles
The 19th Asian Junior Championships came to a conclusion today in Kish Island with the four main power houses of the asian market sharing the trophies.
Malaysia claimed three titles, with India claiming two as well as Pakistan, Hong Kong claiming one title.
On the boys side the first final was between Gurshan Singh of Malaysia and Kush Kumar of India. Singh began the better with Kush mis-hitting a few returns of serve. In the second Kush reasserted himself on the match and he went on to win the third. Singh though wasn’t going to give up easily and fought back to take the fourth. So we were in for the decider level pegging all the way to 6-6. Singh got away to 8.6 and at 8.8 Singh went for a cross court nick and missed. 9.9 now and kush played two good rallies to tale the title.
In the boys under 15 final top seed Ng Eain Yow took the title at his third attempt in this age group. A first round exit a few years ago in Sri Lanka, Runner up last year and Jordan and finally this year he took the title. He was up against Mohammed Al- Sarraj from Jordan who was last years runner up in the under 13 competition. Yow started off slightly nervously not putting the ball to the front until the middle of the first. From this point on he asserted himself on the match to take the title.
