Six clubs from around Jordan played in the first Amman Club Squash Open 2012 and the Finals were a fantastic weekend of Squash with 8 different titles up for grabs.
Aljazeera Squash Club clinch men’s title in a 5 games marathon
A great start is the only way to describe the Mens Final, it looked like Saad Hijazi (34y; Orthodoxy) was going to wrap things up early for Orthodoxy Club as he took a 2-0 lead but Mohammad Alsaraj (13y; Amman Club) fought back to make it 2-1 but couldn’t overcome the loud crowd and stay consistent in his game as he lacked some concentration and lost the fourth game and match immediately (11-3 12-10 5-11 11-9)
Everything fell to the number ones, Ahmad Alsaraj (17y; Amman Club) against Ahmad Alzbaidi (23y; Aljazeera Club). Of course it went the distance, both players giving everything for their club, each player took turns to claim a game, then with Alsaraj leading 9-7 in the fourth Alzbaidi took his deepest breaths, pushed it once more to the limits and took full advantage and quickly closed out the game to level it 2-2 and take it into the fifth where he continued to pile the pressure on, forcing the ball to each corner and racing into the lead much to the delight of the Aljazeera crowd.
11-6 in the fifth to Ahmad Alzbaidi (24y; PSA 201) and the victory to Aljazeera 3-2, who will now go onto the Club Team Championships as Jordans National Individual Club Champion (11-8 10-12 9-11 11-9 11-6).
