The Talented Squash Cry Baby

Todays training at the Jordan Squash Federation was shattered with a loud cry! Why? Well, like nearly every day, one of the junior sisters started quarreling and crying, again because she didn’t get what she wants! Normally, my parents used to call me spoiled cry baby when I used to do the same in my childhood.

We started as usual our training with the junior sisters and their 6 years old brother at 6pm and with a smile. After we trained together for the first 15 minutes, Omar left the court for the girls to train. I noticed throughout the days, that Rahaf, the younger 8 years old sister, doesn’t get satisfied, when she gets a NO to a demand or requirement! She always wants to be the first to start a certain exercise, the one to win a match, the one to be better treated in court, the one with the right decision when she is not satisfied with the referee’s decision aso. THAT MUCH AT THIS EARLY (ST-)AGE – IS THAT A NORMAL BEHAVIOR? No, definitely not. I call it “a talented but spoiled Squash cry baby!”

So how to treat this matter?

To give her a “yes to every desire” to satisfy her soul and to prevent her from crying? No, I don’t think so….

To gently warn and talk to her to make her understand her wrong social behavior? Yes, definitely. Both parents should be present  including SquashWith.Me to solve this matter and let her understand the rules of the court if she wants to combine her talent with a good court behavior, that will lead her to success on and off court!

All of that wont bring any result if parents support their child’s behavior by accepting and having less courage  talking to the child!
